Tissue, Blood, and Body Fluid Sample Collection From Patients With Hematologic Cancer
RATIONALE: Collecting and storing samples of tissue, blood, and body fluid from patients with cancer to study in the laboratory may help the study of cancer in the future. PURPOSE: This research study is collecting and storing blood and tissue samples from patients being evaluated for hematologic cancer.

Umbilical Cord Blood Transplantation Using a Myeloablative Preparative Regimen for Hematological Diseases
This is a treatment guideline for an unrelated umbilical cord blood transplant (UCBT) using a myeloablative preparative regimen for the treatment of hematological diseases, including, but not limited to acute leukemias. The myeloablative preparative regimen will consist of cyclophosphamide (CY), fludarabine (FLU) and fractionated total body irradiation (TBI).

BCR:ABL1 negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) include three entities: polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia and primitive myelofibrosis. Myelofibrosis is a life-threatening complication in MPN with several therapeutic options including hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) which remains the only curative treatment. Bone marrow biopsy with histological analysis allows myelofibrosis identification and staging. AJX-101 is a first-in-human (FIH), phase 1, non-randomized, multi-center, open-label clinical trial designed to investigate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (PK), clinical activity and changes in biomarkers of an orally administered type II JAK2 inhibitor, AJ1-11095, in subjects with primary or secondary myelofibrosis previously treated with at least one type I JAK2 inhibitor.

A Telehealth Advance Care Planning Intervention
The objective of this project is to conduct a pilot randomized trial to assess the preliminary efficacy of a telehealth-delivered Serious Illness Care Program on healthcare communication, patient anxiety and distress, as well as completion of advance directives (specifically MOLST and healthcare proxy forms) for older patients with acute myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, and similar myeloid malignancies.

Blood Viscosity in Polycythemia Patients
Polycythemia (PG) corresponds to an increase in erythrocyte parameters on a blood test. A distinction is usually made between primary and secondary PG. The most common primary PG is Vaquez's disease, a hematological cancer. In Vaquez disease, an increase in hematocrit has been reported to be associated with a logarithmic increase in blood viscosity. The main complications of primary PGs (especially in Vaquez disease) are thromboembolic complications. In contrast, thromboembolic complications are rarer in secondary PG. Bomedemstat vs Hydroxyurea for Essential Thrombocythemia (MK-3543-007)
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of bomedemstat compared with hydroxyurea in cytoreductive therapy naïve essential thrombocythemia (ET) participants for whom cytoreductive therapy is indicated. Its primary objective is to compare bomedemstat to hydroxyurea with respect to durable clinicohematologic response (DCHR). The primary hypothesis is that bomedemstat is superior to hydroxyurea with respect to DCHR.
